JgdPz.IV L/70 PE

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
Anybody can attest to the quality of Dragon's 1/72nd scale armour. They've raised the bar in a similar way to what they've done in the more popular 1/35th scale. One of their recent releases was the JgdPz.IV L/70, but as good as they are, injection moulding can only do so much before the nature of the material itself limits the replication in miniature of the original parts. Eduard to the rescue!

Quick look
This set arrives on two frets of PE, one fairly large, and one fairly small. The instructions run to five sides, which gives you some indication of the extent to which this set goes, given that it's for a 1/72nd kit!

Front mudguards are replaced, along with the rear ones, various small fittings along the rear of the hull are offered to up detail the kit, including tiny etched chains, caps, and brackets. New Notek convoy lights, mud flaps, reflectors, handles for hatches, periscopes, very nicely done hinges for the main hatches as well!

All the tool clamps are replaced with one-piece Eduard offerings, and the jack block receives a fairly good makeover too. Lastly, of course the schurzen are replaced with PE, which should allow the modeller to impart battle damage as convincingly as he wants!

in conclusion
A fairly extensive set from Eduard for such a small model, but looking closely at the instructions, if you manage to install everything Eduard offer in this set, you'll have a fairly stunning model as a result! Recommended, and a full in-depth review coming soon!

SUMMARY
Eduard have outdone themselves, making a set for a 1/72 kit that could easily be pantographed up for a 1/35 kit, there's just so much in it!
