WWII British Heads

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction
If you're serious about your figures, then you'll have heard of Hornet heads. Quite simply they are the industry standard in replacement 1/35th heads. Their range is continually expanding and is well known for their character head sets.

this set
This set of 5 character heads, all wearing British WWII helmets with camouflage netting. As is usual with Hornet replacement heads, the moulding of the light grey resin is near-perfect, just one small bubble on the chin of one head, marring an otherwise faultless set.

All the attached pouring blocks are connected to the end of the neck, and so are easily removed with a pair of snippers, and cleaned up with a scalpel blade, ready for use. Two of the figures are wearing chinstraps, three have foliage intertwined with the camouflage netting, one with just netting and one without. In addition, the figure wearing the helmet without netting appears to have his eyes closed. Possibly asleep, or could even be used on a dead or unconscious figure.

The expressions on the faces range from determination to shouting. These heads are extremely easy to paint if figures are 'not your thing' since being moulded so well they take a wash more easily. The foliage is particularly well done............ i can't wait to have a go painting them!

in conclusion
Hornet keep expanding their range, and to my mind they haven't made a bad set yet! If you need WWII British figures with your next vehicle or in your next diorama, then you'll need these heads! Very highly recommended.

My thanks to Hornet for the review sample.

SUMMARY
Another wonderful set of replacement heads from Roger Saunders at Hornet, with moulded on camouflage that will look absolutely superb when painted up and add some real finesse to your figures.

The heads look great but the details on the helmets are even better. I know this has been asked a hundred times but what company's do they look the best on? Do they work well with Dragon or Warriors?

Gday Vinnie These are some beautiful sculpts! (Watch out Tamiya;) Is this helmet camo net and foliage set-up from Normandy onwards only?
