Introduction

As the Vietnam War broke out, many young people were voluntarily enlisted and some were drafted. After training for a few months; the soldiers, many of whom still underage, were sent to overseas to fight in a country that they had no prior knowledge of. Minimum age for enlistment were 17 but with parental consent, though a number of young men and even women lied about their ages in order to sign up.
Third figure of Grunt series B6-35306 Steve “Kid” depicts a young warrior with an upgraded weapon.
Review

Figure comes in company’s light brown cardboard box labeled with a photo of the painted figure. Inside the box, parts are served with casting blocks and inserted into transparent zip-lock bags. Sculpting and casting quality are nice in clean and crisp details. No casting mistakes on samples but slightly visible seamlines need to be clean.
Sculpted in 1/35 scale by Vladimir Demchenko, also the boxart painter, the figure comes on a standing pose with 5 parts.

  • Body : He wears an OD t-shirt and Tropical jungle trousers with trotters inserted inside his leather-canvas combined Jungle boots. Cloth folds and wrinkles of the uniform, rear and side cargo pockets with flap covers are well defined.

  • Head; Facial details, hair and his childish look as his nickname “Kid” are well represented.

  • Arms are posed to carry the rifle. Cloth folds on the sleeves of the t-shirt are well defined.

  • Rifle ; Figure carries an M16A1 w/M203. M203 is a single-shot 40 mm under-barrel grenade launcher designed to attach to a rifle. It is intended for permanent attachment to the M16 rifles and utilizes a 12-inch rifled barrel. It uses the same rounds as the older stand-alone M79 break-action grenade launcher. Details of the rifle are well sculpted. Right hand is cast on pistol grip and left hand on barrel grip.
    Conclusion

Another unique figure for Vietnam War dioramas which will make a great scene with other Grunts - 35305 and 35306.

You know, it must be the way that these figures are painted that puts me off as the poses and detail are good; it's just that he looks like Dennis the Menace confronted by Mr Wilson, for Pete's sake!
