Introduction

Paracel Miniatures continue to release very useful and interesting figure kits to add realism to Syrian War scenes. Lately Giang Le Xuan , owner, and sculptor of company and also happy dad of newborn twins, sculpted a trio on resting poses.

MW-3535 Nap Sleep includes three 1/35 scale resin cast figures with exhausted look getting rest or sleeping on a couch.

Review

Kit comes in a big square cardboard box labeled with a photo of the painted figures. Inside the box, all are inserted into a transparent zip-lock bag. Figures are sculpted in one-piece by Giang Xuan Le aka Janleo that no assembly will be needed. They are represented with easy to remove blocks on their back removed for the review. Casting quality is quite good and details are sharp. No air bubbles, defects or serious mistakes on review samples, but there are some seamlines to clean.

  • FIGURE-1

Figure is posed sitting with his right arm on his thigh and left hand put on his forehead. Facial features, heavy beard and moustache, bald head with hair on the sides and exhausted expression on the face are well defined. He wears a vest over his shirt, military type trousers and high boots with laces. He had a scarf with tassels / shemag wrapped around his neck.

  • FIGURE-2

In my opinion, one of the best resting posed figures ever sculpted. Posed leaned back to sleep on the couch and as a great detail he cuddles a Teddy bear. With nice facial details, long beard and moustache; he has a knitted cap on his head covering his eyes. He wears a waist length coat or a military parka, jeans type pants and leather shoes. There is a scarf wrapped around neck on this figure too. Folds and wrinkles on clothing, knit texture on the cap, tassels on scarf and details on Teddy are all well defined.

  • FIGURE-3

Posed with crossed arms and legs, he shows a nice pose for taking a nap when sitting on couch. He wears a sweatshirt with hood and a scarf on his neck. Cloth folds, cuffs with buttons and front zipper are well defined. Hood covers his head and he has a sleeping mask covering his eyes. Trousers are military type with cargo pockets on sides painted in camouflage on boxart and he has sport shoes.

  • Couch/Sofa : A three people sofa with armrests on both sides is supplied on the kit. Prints for the easy fit of the figures make it easier but figures can be used in different variations other than shown on boxart. Two backpacks on one side and clothes on the couch are nice details.
    Conclusion

This is a very nice three resting figure kit to be used in Middle East scenes. Realistic poses and sculpted in crisp details but will need some extra effort to get rid of seamlines before painting.
  • SUMMARY
Highs: Nice and poses, crisp details and well defined sofa.
Lows: Some cleanwork will be needed.
Verdict: Very nice figure kit to add realism to Modern War dioramas.
