About Jim Starkweather (staff_Jim)
FROM: CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES

I started building models in 1971 when I was 6. My first model was a 1/32 P-40 Warhawk. Revell I believe. From there I moved onto the standard cars, Apollo spacecraft, and other kid orientated kits. I don't know what got me started on Armor. I must have seen a Monogram tank kit one day and said "Mom...

To answer your question. Minefields are generally termed an obstacle or obstacle belt as they often have more than one type of obstacle, like tank ditch etc all designed to achieve an effect. During an assault you initially breach the obstacle, often under fire, allowing assault forces through then reduce the obstacle, making it smaller allowing more and more forces through, then follow on forces remove it completely. Hence the vehicle name, assault, as its designed to do it under fire so no crew exposed, breach as in the initial making and proving of the lane through the obstacle. Hopefully clears it up without going into all the details that might be available on these sort of operations. Thanks for review, had hoped this would come out in plastic as there are some awesome videos of its use, particularly the viper explosive charge, on the internet. Awesome vehicle, hope they do the other configuration with rollers to prove the lane rather than the blade as well. Regards

I have never seen the ABV with rollers. I have only seen it with the plow (as this kit has) and with a Pearson dozer blade. I believe the lanes are still proofed with standard roller tanks.

My mistake, absolutely right, just recalled two variants, as you say, the full width blade or track width ploughs. Hope they do both options. Thanks for fixing failing memory.

I like seeing the anti slip molded on...too much of a PITA to make on my own

Thanks for the peak inside, wow, what cool-looking beastie! Ditto on the anti-slip as its easy for them to mold it on.
