introduction

After QY35001 - German Soldier Throwing Grenade, second figure of German Soldiers in action series is QY35002 depicting a World War II German MG34 machine gunner. Company already announced 03 and 04 figures of same series.
packing & casting

Figure comes in a good quality metal box with a label showing information and photo of the figure painted by Han Dong. Inside the box, parts are inserted in a plastic zip-lock bag and well protected between a thin and a thick slabs of polyfoam.

Casting quality is very nice as in all Qing Yi figures. There is no blocks to remove or anything to do as a cleanwork, just prime and paint. The lower part of the figure facing the ground is flattened.
parts

Posed lying on the ground to fire a MG34 machine gun , figure is sculpted by Qing Yi as a full body figure with field gear cast on it. Only machine gun with hands, bipod and folding shovel are given as seperate parts.

  • With a M42 Steel Helmet - Stahlhem on his head, facial details, and helmet details like chinstrap, flared out edges, vent holes and rivets are well represented. He wears grey-green M36 Tunic - Feldbluse with dark- bottle green collar, five front buttons, four pleated pockets-two breast and two waist -all with flap covers and secured with metal buttons and stone-gray M36 Trousers - Feldhose. Wrinkles and cloth folds, pockets, buttons, shoulder boards. collar and collar insignia Litzen are well defined. His webbing is black leather Belt - Koppel and Y-Strap - Koppeltragegestell, buttonholes and buckles of Y-strap, gas mask case strap crossed on his chest are well defined.

Arms are posed to hold the machine gun and show nice cloth folds. The sleeves could be hollowed for the best fit of hands and a more realistic look.

As for the footgear; he wears ankle-high Boots - Schnürschuhe with hobnails on the sole and over his boots, he has canvas Gaiters - Gamaschen with leather straps.

Parts of the field gear are cast on the back side of figure and show clean, crisp and well defined details.

    - MG Gunners Pouch - Maschinengewehr Werkzeug Tasche

    - Field Bottle - Feldflasche

    - Bread Bag - Brotbeutel

    - Mess Tin - Kochgeschirr

    - Rolled Camouflaged Shelter Ouarter - Zeltbahn M31

    - Gasmask case - Tragbusche fur Gasmaske

  • Folding Shovel - Klappspaten is given as a seperate part to be glued on the left hip.

  • His weapon is Maschinengewehr 34/MG34, a recoil-operated, air-cooled machine gun considered by many to be the first modern general-purpose machine gun. It was used as the primary infantry machine gun during the 1930s, and remained as the primary tank and aircraft defensive weapon. Details like flash hider, air cooled jacket, front and rear sights, operating handle and feedcover are all well defined. 50 round Drum Magazine is cast on the right side with sliding cover, folding handle and rear cover latch details. Hands are cast on the machine gun, correctly posed as in WW II photos; right hand on the pistol grip and left hand holding lower part of stock.

  • MG34 Bipod.
    conclusion

Nice sculpt and flawless cast, ease on assembly with only four parts, very well defined uniform, field gear and weapon details. Another unique German soldier for World War II battlefield scenes that can be displayed with other figures of Qing Yi or other companies.

I would trade one of my kidneys for this guy, an ammo bearer, and the guy tossing the grenade- all in 1/16th.

Hopefully not! I find the sharp detail of the equipment and gear particularly impressive. Well done!
