This review looks at the 1/72 resin model Fountain / fonte, product R72004 by West Garage Models. Being 1/72 it can also be easily integrated into an OO (1/76) and HO (1/87) scene, and perhaps even larger scales.

Fountain / font, R72004
West Garage Models (WGM) started originally in 2009 as Garage Exclusive Models (GEM). That is why the photos show this WGM model in a GEM label.

Fountain is packed in a one-piece clear plastic container. Inside are three resin pieces. Another thread asked about French wells and fountains. Please see the link French Town Wells & Fountains in the summary box, below.

Cast in buff resin the resin parts include two rounded-top fronts that form the basin, and the squirting face.

The parts are cast with definite stone and tile detail. I did not find any air bubble pockmarks.

WGM makes models primarily for military and historical miniatures modelers of 1/72. That scale is part of braille scale which includes 1/76, 1/87 (HO) and perhaps even 1/64 (S scale for trains and 25mm for wargaming) and O - 1/48. Thus this kit is a fonte of opportunity!

Fountains, like wells, have been ubiquitous in civilization – and still are in much of the world – for millennia. This neat and simple model should enhance almost any ‘braille-scale’ diorama.

I look forward to adding this model to a layout scene or diorama and recommend it to modelers.

West Garage Models
WGM offers many unique scenery and diorama models. West Garage Models - formerly GEM - produces a variety of models and accessories.
Our history goes back to December 2nd of 2009 with GEM (Garage Exclusive Models).

It starts with a small and simple resin kit, then another and then the diorama material, and bit by bit, we end up with a solid catalogue. Now, a change, a new image, a new name. The catalogue still has the same products and will have a lot more.

Thanks to West Garage Models for sending this model for review! Please tell WGM and retailers that you saw this here – on KitMaker.
Highs: Good casting. Useful and adaptable subject.
Lows: A smidgen of indistinct molding on the face.
Verdict: This neat and simple fountain should enhance almost any ‘braille-scale’ diorama.

I'm a professional pilot with a degree in art. My first model was an AMT semi dump truck. Then Monogram's Lunar Lander right after the lunar landing. Next, Revell's 1/32 Bf-109G...cried havoc and released the dogs of modeling! My interests--if built before 1900, or after 1955, then I proba...
