The SAS figure has just become my favorite Alpine figure and it isn't even out yet I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Hello, Once again Alpine release a very nice set. I've seen the figure moving on the image, must be the pinochio effect ! I didn't panzerwaffe had blue uniform, but panzerace must have had their caprice. I've notice something, the way the head is painted reminds me a lot the way Mister Kashiwagi paints. The eyes look particularly neat and detailled, and the fleshtone are very subtle, two particularity of Mister Kashawagi style. Best, Julien

Good observation, Julien. I also noticed very subtle fleshtones on both 1/35 figures... perhaps Man-Jin is trying new techniques under Kashiwagi influence. Very nice, in my opinnion much more realistic than the usual high contrast acrylic techniques. Mario

Hello Mario, Not only the fleshtone, but also the way the eyes are painted. Basically I've identified in this techniques few particularity : the nose is painted in pink, a little more redish than the rest, and the eyes are done by doing the upper eyelash in dark, the downer in pink, and the eyeball is two pin of paint. I like the smooth effect given to the fleshtone, which is very realisitic I think. On the other hand, the downside could be that the face of the figure makes a "doll effect", as if the flesh were made out of plastic used for dolls. We are maybe the witnesses of a new way of painting, like the weathering and color modulation killed the dry brushing in the AFV hobby. Best, Julien

I'm glad you guys noticed the change in painting technique. Man-Jin Kim is trying out a new way of doing his thing. I think his photography technique should change along.
