Tasca, although it hasn’t appeared on their website, (At least I can’t find it) have released an M4A4 Sherman.
Tasca have had the parts for this kit
TAS 35016 1/35 British Army Sherman V (M4A4) for a while from the M4A1 and Firefly kits.

The M4A4 was mainly used by British and Commonwealth forces as well the Chinese. The US Army used it for training purposes but also borrowed some M4A4DD tanks for the Rhine crossing if my memory is correct (I wasn’t there I just remember reading it.)

Update 9 Jan 09. Just recieved details from Tasca:
Accurate model of the M4A4 with 75mm turret with extended body.
New parts include:

Late version smoke discharger that was attached to the right side of the turret

Government issued biscuit cans.

Early and late version of gun shield included

Applique armor and gun travel clamp

Working VVSS suspension.

Etched fret for engine grill, etc.

Five different marking options for Sherman V around Normandy (printed by Cartograf)

One British tank soldier figure.

Tasca are now taking preorders on their website.

I love the biscuit tins, too! Was watching "Band of Brothers" DVDs last night my son got for Christmas, and wondered what is the right Sherman for US Army at Normandy? And, of course, who makes the best kit?

For the Normandy invasion, may I suggest you get any of these 3 Concord books by Steve Zaloga? US Tank Battles in France D-Day Tank Battles Sherman At War part 1 The bulk of the tanks that took part in US units in the June Normandy invasion were the M4 75mm gun tank and the M4A1 75mm gun tank. The M4A1 is available from DML (6048) and Tasca (pricey but super accurate). The M4 has been kitted by Tamiya (albeit older and not as accurate) and is to be released by DML very soon (very anticipated).

Hi Guys, Where to buy is the question? If I order direct from Tasca price is £40.99, add some shipping and take off a free kit. so the cost would be about £50.00 Any thoughts? Al

Hi al You could try SBX Models in Ipswich, who I understand stocks Tasca items. I've no personal experience of the shop but I understand from others that he is a good guy and the price includes postage. LINK Alan
