Resicast have announced their release of a three figure set of British Tankers in Pixie suits.
The set 35.5598 "Brew Up" contains 3 tankers in Pixie suits. Pixie suits, for the uninitiated, were one piece blanket lined overalls. The figures are depicted eating, and the set includes a cooker Mk II and some mess tins.

Price: €38.00

I suppose at least they're not drinking tea... Speaking of which... I thought "a brew up" was the making of tea? Or is it any hot meal or drink? Rudi

Hi Rudi, They are having some 'scoff' but that is always accompanied by a brew up if possible These look like quite a useful set, I can see them in a number of settings, ready made dio. I like the mess tins and MK II cooker, useful dio items. Good to see more British/Commonwealth troops. Al

Al, Thanks. I do agree that they will be useful to CW modellers. The only thing that bugs me a bit about this set is that they all look so similar - the pockets all bulge the same, all have the hood out, all wearing wooly jumpers, the 2 standing figures are near identical from the waist up - syncronised 'scoffing'? Would have been nice to see a little more individuality between the 3... What say you? Rudi

Hi Rudi, Yes, I see what you mean, an alternative head or two would help and I suppose a lot would depend on how you posed them within a scene. My preference would have been for a mixed order of dress, as it makes figs more flexible. They did remind me of some pics I'd stored away for future use lol, lol. A Pixie suit is a Pixie suit I suppose, so in that sense they would look similar, but with a little though they should still make a pleasing trio. I see some arm swoping taking place in my mind lol, lol. The 2 standing chaps might well double as commanders too. I don't recall having seen any Pixie suit figures from Resicast before other that the 3 x 1/2 tank crew. I think I'd mix them in or separate the group a little, but it's hard to say until you try them out in a scene. For me placing figures within/around a vehicle/boat or whatever is one of the hardest things to do, but I see no reason why they wouldn't work well with the right amount of thought. I do love the cooker and mess tins and I'm sure folks will find a home for them if the scene is right. Grouped together as they are for the picture does make the similaraties stand out though. My thoughts anyway. Al
