Isn't this the second iteration? It looks like aproper GS version, correcting the first one which was the workshop version but without the workshop! Sorry Ivanhoe, the standard towing vehicle for the 25 Pounder and limber was the FAT (Field Artillery Tractor), a 4X4 purpose built vehicle built by numerous companies. Initial supply was Morris Commercials, but there were other suppliers, Guy for one and notably Canadian Ford as per the ancient Tamiya kit. I heard from someone who drove one for real that they were terrifying above 30mph, especially when towing.

@Ivanhoe, I read it was used as artillery tractor but no further details or specifics on what type of artillery. Also read that the Red Army used it as their Katyusha platform. @Hohenstaufen, I recall the previous ICM release was the WOT 6. They appear to look alike, but I guess there would be differences between the two.

According to this web-site the WOT 8 was used to tow the 17 pdr in North Africa: LINK Some additional reading about differences and external modifications here: LINK

Thanks Steve for the info and you too Tat ! The Dragon 25 pounder is a long way from the back of the closet to the work bench. Hopefully by then there will be a suitable truck instead of the old Tamiya offering. Although I'm sure that it could be made into something good with a little work and some AM parts. This is one of the things I love about Armorama the tips, help and info that members freely share when somebody asks ! Thanks to all of those helpful folks !!! And everybody out there, have a good weekend !!!

I agree ivanhoe6! It would be hard to find a more helpful or KNOWLEDGEABLE group of military modelers anywhere. Gary

More recent tractor kit options for the 25pdr could be the Canadian pattern tractor from IBG or Mirror, or the Morris C8 tractors from Mirror.

Good news to me ! I can build the pending project finally :-)

Thanks Robin. So WOT 8 = 30Cwt, WOT 6 = 3Ton. My only excuse is it's "not my period"! Now if you asked about German trucks...

It's not my area of expertise either so I asked Google about it The tricky part was to narrow down the search to get rid of all WOT-results (World Of Tanks) ..... / Robin
