The last of Blitz Kit's April releases builds a model of this 280mm French mortar in transport mode.
Crewed by 12, the 280mm Schneider mortar fires 205kg HE shells close to 11km. It was transported by dismantling into four loads: barrel, cradle, carriage and firing platform. The method, though innovative, was rather unusual as the load itself was the chassis of the transport, i.e. two sets of wheels were attached to the barrel when it was moved.

Voiture Mortier 280mm TRS (35FS 2022). The kit builds the trailer components and dismantled Schneider mortar barrel in transport mode. A suggested display is with the use of Blitz Kit's Renault EG tractor (35FS-1048).

Blitz makes nice stuff, but it's often OOP. That's my biggest problem with their line. If you like this item, I urge you to order it RIGHT AWAY.

On the other hand, the OOP items usually come back a year or so later. I get the impression that they rotate the molds in and out of production. There are several items that I wanted, didn't get before they went OOP and now they are back again. This mortar transport is part of a whole set that was sold earlier: It was Blitz-Kit 35FS 4021 Actually it looks as if the complete set is still for sale: LINK whaddayaknow ... aaaannnnnd now you need two of these tractors/trucks to tow it all The Renault EG is here: LINK All of the unnecessary white space above is part of the photo so it is not my fault / Robin

I read that it may also be towed by horses, though I guess one may need to source out more than two.
