Sabre has a new kit of the German Raiway Flatbed Ommr, which can be used to transport many different vehicles.
The kit has been developed with the technical help from Libor of LZ Models, and is offered as a single model or on a 1+1 pack.

It includes photoetch parts and decals for three decorations.

If you make the separation according to scale, I think it is correct. The real difference must be close to 0 so a 35th part of almost 0 is hardly visible... What is important is that the wood grain is different from plank to plank, and that is correct in this model. That said, sometimes you have to sacrifice the "real scale" for a "real looking"

Robin's 2nd photo shows the planking pretty good. Maybe scribe the gaps between each plank to over exaggerate the planks ? My $.02 worth. A welcome piece of railroad equipment. We need more RR stuff !

Inspirational images showing more or less worn planks on other types of platform waggons This one really needs some tender loving care .... If I were to build this waggon I would think about replacing that plastic slab with individual wooden strips. Maybe cut from 1 mm plywood ... / Robin

If it's anything like their SSys Platformwagen the undersides of the wooden deck will have a bit of structural detail. There are two of these sprues in the SSys kit. Top,

Hi guys, While you're concentrated on those floor planks I've spotted some other things: 1. Most markings on the box illustration aren't correct for Ommr. I'm curious to see the other two decal options mentioned. 2. The end brake also isn't correct for this particular chassis. However, let's see the parts first, many of these "showpieces" are built in a hurry and let's hope the kit will contain parts for correct chassis with brake, and at least one correct markings option as well.

I have to agree there. I feel we should always replace the "plastic wood" decking on any flatcar with real wood. These cars by definition receive so much abuse that only real wood will do the trick. Kudos to Robin for finding so many very good examples of this abuse.

Thanks, indeed, to Robin for the pics of actual cars! I was able to find the plank lines on the kit but only after enlarging the photo. And yes, I do wear specs, so maybe I'll have to get some new ones. Which leads me to echo Mike's idea about replacing the kit parts with real wood. Much easier to show wear & tear, and yeah it's more work but the results are worth it. Appreciate the input from everyone else as well!
