About time there was something for all those German train items from Trumpeter to fight. I wonder what happens if a German and Russian train are on the same track?! Or, if they are different gauges, what happens if two opposing trains are on adjacent tracks? Looking at the sizes of the pieces I can see why the box is the shape it is - I'd be interested to see the size of the dies! No one has mentioned the cast-in star on one of the turrets. Presumably on the prototype this would have been a special casting, so not just surplus tank turrets. Surprised it isn't called out to be painted red on the instructions!

Well, this is nice to see, but did you guys hear that Takom just announced a NEW BERGEPANTHER! Yaaaa! Definitely the kit that goes to the top of the list. And, oh yes, the train here looks nice too.

Interesting kit . Probably look a lot better on its own in a diorama as it's self powered , than a static armored German rail car . Would have been nice if more hatches and doors were separate pieces , a little more interesting to have figures peering out, looking for the enemy or with boredom at the unchanging landscape . I wonder if there's any Russian book with lots of interior / exterior pictures ? Should be easy to cut doors / hatches open , its the detail stuff that's a little tricky

Sorry, here I thought that you meant that the model was self-powered, as in "toy train" and I though "Shesh, what a waste..." What was also interesting was that some of the larger armoured trains had complete turrets from T-34 and KV-1 tanks on them. That must have been impressive to see in action.

Just opened this big box: well first, great idea to produce this beautiful "beast", because Soviet armoured trains are to often forgotten although there were far more different types than the Germans standardised types; in fact the Wehrmacht rapidly re-used the armoured trains they captured, which could lead to interesting models. In the box we find the usual but somehow useless rail track (and cumbersome), and a nicely detailes exterior: that gives a too large and heavy box (for overseas customers). Note for Hobby Boss (and Trumpeter) : please save plastic for the actual model!? Tha antenna around the central "tower" much visible on the feww WW2 pictures is missing: not very difficult to create though. No interior although part of it would be visible if you open the Quad Maxims hatches on the top, thus you will have to create it yourself; and if you want to open a few other access dooors or vision hatches, I can assure you that the sides of the armour hull is very thick! It is feasable anyway as I already opened the rear door and the right side central one. Anyway, Thank you, thank you Hobby Boss for this very bicely moulded armoured railcar. Looking forward now for PR-35 or 43 steam locomotive, and a few VS-60, NKPS-42, PL-42, OB-3 or PL-43 armoured wagons for example?

There is a nice walkaround of the preserved MBV-2 in Kubinka on dishmodel-ru, and a few pictures of the interior now available on the net. You can also find good quality pictures WW2 period on wikipedia (in russian only), where the radoi antenna is clarly visible. Thereby the tan vertical stripes camouflage over the usual 4BO green does go well for the ref 85514 L-11 guns version currently available. I bought mine on Kit Maquettes Tank in France for less than 80 euros.
