Hasegawa, in cooperation with Takom, is set to release a large scale figure depicting a WWII-era Japanese tank commander.
Hasegawa’s WWII Imperial Japanese Army Tank Commander (1005) will surely be a great addition to Takom’s upcoming Type 94 tank kits.

Item 1005 is an injection molded kit that will include a decal sheet for the rank insignia.

I don't know if I am being politically/ socially incorrect here - I certainly don't mean to be - but the facial features in the box art do not look Asian. I have built Tamiya's 1/16 Japanese fighter pilot and it also has facial sculpting more Eurocentric than Asian . Why ?

I've seen Japanese who look like that. Maybe the artwork's skin color is too pinkish (Caucasian). [Wonder why "caucasian" has "asian" in it! Bit of an oxymoron!] That sword must be a real nuisance when getting in or out of those tiny WWll Japanese tanks.

I agree with Biggles2. My guess is that the model used for the box art was more of a contemporary Japanese. Here's a photo of what's in the kit: More photos here

Thanks for the photo - that indeed looks more true to life .

All of you really need to see more Asians. But then I watch way too much Japanese TV. As any ethnographer will tell you; there is as much variety within a population as there is between populations. Besides the whole yellow skin thing is a stereotype. There are plenty of pink Asians as there are plenty of yellow Caucasians. The actual recognition feature are the eyes, lips and nose.

I've been living in Japan 19 years and he looks Japanese to me. As others have said, there's a great deal of variety in looks, I've seen/met people here who could easily be mistaken for European.
