Customscale has released its kit that corrects and provides further details to help improve the Takom kit.
Probably the best known model of its heavy tractors, the Hanomag SS-100 was used by both Heer and Luftwaffe units in various operating theaters during the Second World War. It was deployed to tow artillery, aircraft, bombs, gasoline trailers, and even the trailers that were used to transport the V2 rocket.

Customscale offers its Hanomag SS-100 Detail Resin Kit (35080) as a fix to the issues with the Takom kit. As may be seen in the photos the kit provides its corrections such as a complete set of rims and tires, replacement fenders and tread plates. Corrections and additional details are also included for the front doors, tool boxes, as well as the dashboard.

I like those "real thickness" resin cab doors included in the CustomScale upgrade kit. So many hobby manufacturers miss out on this detail. Even when they give you positionable doors you almost don't want to show them in the open position because they are so unrealistically thin.

Does anyone know if these guys have a US agent? This conversion might be the reason I finish my old Tamiya 88.

I'm a little confused? Is this a full resin kit like it says on the box or do you need the Takom kit as a donor? Cheers, Rick

Custom-Scale has made a full resin kit of the SS-100 in the past. I think they made a goof on using the wrong model box photo here. What is announced here is an entirely new offering that corrects many of the minor faults of the Takom kit. (I feel sure this upgrade makes use of many of the parts from their original complete kit.)

Michael, Thanks for the clarification. It threw me off a bit with the kit number being the same. Looking forward to building one as well as seeing what yours looks like, I always look forward to your truck builds. Cheers, Rick

I buddy of mine has a second kit that is missing the fuel tank. I am considering using it to build the Arty Tractor to go with my 88. However I may have to go with scratch building the ammo boxes and oversized fuel tank due to the shipping and currency exchange surcharges involved in ordering the resin conversion kit from Europe. The guys at Custom-Scale says the company "Lots of Models" carries their line here in the States. I just checked, "Lots of Models" carries a large portion of the Custom-Scale line of resin products.

Hello again, The Artillery version from Customscale is "only" an update set for the Takom kit and therefore still needs the kit as a base. Meanwhile also a correction set for the doors and fenders has been released including also corrected wheels, because the kit includes post war rims. gert
