Following several months of work, Sol Model announces the availability of its Merkava Mk. III MBT.
The Merkava (“Chariot”) tank series has been service with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) since 1979, starting with the Mk I model. The Mk III was introduced by the end of 1989 and featured major upgrades in the drivetrain, armament, and safety systems. The most prominent changes were the use of the 120mm gun developed by Rheinmetall of Germany, and installation of a larger 1,200HP diesel engine. Whilst this increased its total weight to 65 tons, the larger motor enabled cruising speeds up to 60 km/h. Further, the re-engineered turret design allowed it to move independent of the chassis, thus the Mk III is able to track its target regardless of the tank's movement.

Sol Model renders its Merkava Mk III in 1/16 scale. Kit MM216 boasts of 3D printed parts, workable tracks, decals, and photo-etched details. A figure of a lady IDF tanker completes this large-scale kit.

As built, the model’s dimensions are: 600mm (L), 190mm (H), and 255mm (W).

Now THAT is one impressive model! Incredible! Not only is the tank model itself amazing but I also like the fact that the included figure is first rate and not some cheap after thought. It shows the level of care, planning and attention to detail that went into making this monster. Well done. Jim LSA

Wow! Makes me wanna enlist all over again! Odd how the women I usually saw in the service didn't look like that. The tank is really impressive as well... and the price more than fair.
