Some news in from Revell of Germany has a couple older Monogram kits coming back.
Revell of Germany has announced the release, or should I say re-release, of some older Monogram armor kits. In 1/35 scale is the Armored Half Track, with positional doors, rotating rear gun, and four figures. And for those who remember 1/32 scale armor, there is the German Panzer IV Tank with extra track links and two crew members. I remember these from way back, I guess that might give away my age.

85-0034 Armored Half Track
85-7861 Panzer IV Tank

Armorama would like to thank Revell of Germany for the update.

A couple of years ago I bought a re-re-re-release (no, I'm not stuttering) of Revell's 1/40 US 105mm howitzer for that 'nostalgia' reason. Nostalgia soon turned to nausea when I realized just how bad that kit really was!

After a re-release of a Renwall classic, under Revell brand I swore them off. Given, my first model upon returning to the hobby was Revell-Monogram. Then, Monogram. Then, Revell. They were enjoyable, at the time. But, I would lose what's left of my mind trying to bring them up to standard.

Too bad I couldn't get these in time for Fourth of July. . . These were the models we'd build and then blow up with firecrackers or shoot with the BB gun! . . Ah.. lots of fun!

I glued bottle rockets on a Monogram Weasel and let it rip up the block. Unfortunately, I didn't consider the fact that Weasel track-street asphalt resistance would prevent it from skidding no more than about a half foot before exploding. Still, it was cool.

Monogram's old Swift boat would float in the backyard pond for quite a while after I soaked it with glue and lit it on fire.....

Shep Paine did a really good job of making these kits look good. We can do the same.

Exactly Jeff. That's part of the fun of modeling.
