A very interesting Sherman conversion has been announced by Best Value Models for an Egyptian variant from the 1950’s.
Best Value Models has announced an interesting Sherman conversion, the M4A1/FL-10. The tank was an Egyptian variant mounting the AMX-13 turret on a Sherman chassis. The kit will include the Tamiya chassis, the Hobby Fan FL-10 turret, and photo-etched parts for details.

Well for starters it's not an Egyptian variant but a French prototype. AFAIK the Egyptians used the turret on a M4A4 hull with an M4A2 engine, BVM has an M4A1 hull. Also they made a typo in their blurb, it's not a HobbyFan turret, but a HobbyBoss one. I actually saw the built up model at the Azimut shop last week, looks OK, but I already have the Tamiya kit so I might try and find an FL10 EBR cheap take the turret from it and convert the EBR to something else. Any News or review regarding Azimut should also come with a warning about their sales policy , you order and pay they take your money and that's the last contact you get from them. Just my experience yours may vary good luck.

Christophe Thanks for the clarification, I could not find any reference on the French version, my quick look only showed the Egyptian variant. As for the turret, their website states that it includes the Hobby Fan turret, if it is the Hobby Boss turret, then I will wait till Azimut corrects it, as I am only reporting what they are stating. OK so you don't believe me? I said I saw the built up model last week, I can recognize plastic parts from resin thank you. Plus HobbyFan doesn't do any FL-10 turret!!! And a link for you, if you want to bother giving accurate news that is, it will take you 30 seconds to find the pics : http://www.chars-francais.net/new/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1576# Cheers, Christophe

Christophe Kevin doesn't say that he doesn't believe you, in fact he thanks you the information. When you first review a new kit, or post a news item, then generally you assume that the manufacturer has proof read their information!

I never stated I did not believe you, I am just reporting what is on the Azimut website. As for correct news, we can only initial report what the manufacturer is stating. Yes you did provide a correction, which I believe to be true, but it is up to the manufacturer to make the correction in what they are stating as well. As for the reference, I don't have all the time on the world to search. As I stated, a quick search in Google "sherman fl-10" produced a list of Egyptian variants, and with limited time, that is what I used.

I didn't knew that variant. Too bad it's from Azimut. Thanks for the link Christophe. It's in fact a french variant but used only by Egypt.

Getting stuff from Azimut is almost as much trouble as Israel had when trying to get tanks in the late forties early fifties. The best way is to have an "agent" on site in Paris to get the stuff ....

Anyone know of a another source other than Azimut? I have had good luck with them but a friend of mine is still waiting for an order he placed two years ago, I just don't want to chance it.
