I have one of these on order with my local hobby shop, and after seeing these sprue shots I may cancel it. I see what looks like some significant sink marks and what's with that dashboard? I've seen better dashboards in 40 year old kits. And on top of that the detail looks pretty soft. Just my two cents.

Good plan Brian. Just buy one of the others on the market. For my money, it looks pretty good, I especially like the louvers being moded open. The sink marks I see are pretty much on flat areas where they will be easy to deal with. It does look like a saw would come in handy to liberate the parts from the sprues and more cleanup will be requires than a kit from the likes of Tamiys, but I a still happy to see this one in plastic.

Not sure what sink marks are talked about, but the kit has none as far as I know

Anyways, I left the sink holes where they are and put decals into them, later I will add a drop of thick clear varnish on each, and that will create nicely looking glass lid over them

[/quote] Libor, Like I said, I happy to have the kit. It looks to me that in photo 3 there are some sink marks on the bed sides, probably corresponding to the ribs on the outside. Simple enough to fill with a bit of putty. I also noted one on a treadplate area, probably the cab floor but I'm not even sure that one would show after construction. If so, it is small enought to hide pretty easily.

Jim, sure, no worry, like I said, the kit does not have any sink marks to fill. For this reason some parts have bigger gates, otherwise they would not eject. These you mentioned are some shrinkage caused by different wall thickness and it has been modified and improved for production. Also many gates were reduced. What you see here are in fact T1 test samples I use for my test build. They still come with this kind of small issues, and these are then improved for kit production, according to my feedback. Unfortunately I am located at opposite side of the world than my kit producer, so all communication, samples etc. is not really straightforward, and while I am receiving samples sent from China a week ago, they are already working on issues spotted in images they supplied before, and then again on issues I find checking plastic received, so this all is quite complicated and time taking. I could have waited and sent to Armorama shots of modified production samples, but then you would see them here while the kit was already in shops. Probably I will do it next time to avoid misunderstandings. Personally I am happy with the kit, detail is very good and fit excellent. Few parts will need a little care to remove them because of thicker gates, but its not problem with small razor blade or sharp scalpel. I am working hard to improve this on my future kits, and it should be quite noticeable on my upcoming Ford F15 and Diamond T 968 coming soon. Unfortunately I cannot afford advanced molding technology and injection machines used by Dragon and other big kit makers

Libor, sounds like you're elbow deep in the development of this kit. Personally, I thank you. Your eye for detail will ensure that this truck will be great. However it turns out, it is a giant leap forward as to what we have available at this time, I e-mailed the good folks at Stevens International and they said it was a few weeks out yet so I'm putting in my order right away before they all get bought up, which I'm sure they will be. Now it would be real nice if a set of maintanence pesonel without web gear and lots of tools, tool boxes ect. in plastic came out. The dio possabilities here are endless. And Christmass is just around the corner my dear family, hint.

Nice dig Jim. I was just trying to make an observation. I thought we were allowed to do that here.
NOV 25, 2013 - 01:16 PM
Just found out the price, about $90 U.S. About 2 weeks for the release also.
