Airfix have released their 1/48 British Vehicle Crew.
Airfix announced today that their 1/48 British Vehicle Crew is now in stock and available direct from their website. These figures are specially designed to accompany the Jackal and Coyote kits. Price in the UK is £9.99 for the eight multi-part figure set. Details below:

The crews of vehicles operating in Afghanistan have to be fully alert to the dangers they find on a daily basis. Operating in the extreme conditions the crews are fully trained in all the tasks they are asked to undertake. This set of eight figures is suitable as drivers and other on-board crew, as well as maintenance teams, extending the opportunities for diorama with the Land Rovers, Jackal and Coyote.

Contains eight unassembled, unpainted figures, vehicle not included.

Please Note: The Driver, Passenger and 'Top Gunner' figures supplied in this set have been designed to fit the Airfix Jackal and Coyote. They can be made to fit into the Airfix Snatch Land Rover and WMIK, but they will require some modification in order to do so, therefore only modellers with some experience should attempt this.

Important: It is not possible to fully assemble the Driver, Passenger and 'Top Gunner' figures from this set and then fit them into a fully assembled Jackal or Coyote (or any other vehicle). The figures must be built up together, as indicated in the figure assembly instructions. Please read both the figure and vehicle instructions carefully before you start.

Rather disappointing. Not enough seated figures and after the long wait it's no time to tell us now not to build the vehicle first.

I agree about the number of seated figures. They have padded the set out with what are just more of the same type of poses in their existing figure set. I got an email on Sunday saying the PE was in stock, but at that stage the figures weren't. By Tuesday the figures were in stock and now the PE isn't. I was going to order them both together so I didn't have to pay two lots of the 11 pounds postage. Oh well, perhaps I can get them both from Hannants when they get their stock.

Is it just me or do their arms look like they are from gibbons and more use for swinging through the trees?

Under the armor posts and operation H I tried to modify a figure as a driver and mentioned the same thing. In order for them to fit more naturally they would need longer arms and legs. There's too much space between the dash and the seats. Tom
