Bronco Models has sent Armorama a selection of pictures on their soon to be released US GPW ¼ ton 4x4 utility truck (mod 1942) with 10 CWT trailer and Airborne crew.
When Bronco Models announced their US GPW ¼ ton 4x4 utility truck (mod 1942) with 10 CWT trailer and Airborne crew there was a lot of interest in who the crew had been modelled on, well now you can make up your own mind with this series of pictures sent to us by Bronco Models. I do believe that this model will shift very quickly when it hits the stores and show up in a lot of period dioramas.

What? 49 pieces to make the T-handle? They must be really tiny pieces!

The kit is now available. It is showing up at Asian suppliers (Lucky Model, HobbyEasy, etc.) and on eBay. The Perth Military Modelers' Site is also showing another version with 37mm AT gun and a separate crew set coming out from them as well. Bronco GPW at PMMS I will be getting one..or two...

As much as I want this one, I think I'll wait until they release it with the 37mm AT gun. CB35107 US GPW 1/4 ton 4x4 Utility Vehicle (Mod.1942) w/37mm Anti-Tank Gun M3A1

It figures they would release the 37mm gun. And a new figure set. Probably do an ambulance version as well at some point, just to get my money, which they are. My GPW should arrive in the next few days.

Is there anything particular about this jeep that makes it an airborne jeep, aside from the decals? It doesn't appear to be the modified version for gliders. Is it just a standard jeep?
NOV 28, 2012 - 05:40 AM
No, the only thing specifically "airborne" are the crew figures and markings.

Kit arrived. Not as many parts as I would have guessed. Everything seems well thought out. Extras like ammo boxes, jerry cans, tarps and armament so options seem to abound.
