One of the plastic manufacturers 'par excellence' in recent years was the Taiwanese company Skybow. When they sold the majority of their moulds to AFV Club it looked as if the modelling world had lost one of their truly great innovators. Now Skybow is back, not working in 1/35th this time, but in 1/48th scale....
Skybow announced a few months ago, that they would be producing an extensive range of 1/48th armor kits, shortly, they will be available in the stores...

There are two models in their initial releases, both Tiger 1s, however, both very different variants...

TP-4801 Tiger I tank / late production

This 122 part kit, has as some of its features, the following:

Accurate late production hull w/ Zimmerit

• Detailed weld seams on hull and turret

• Upper hull w/ turret ring guard

• Has steel-tired road wheels

• Nahverteidigungswaffe

• Late mantlet w/ T.Z.F.9c monocular gun sight

• Accurate 2-piece 40 mm turret roof

• Spare track holders

• Drain slits in cupola

• Has three sockets for 2t jib boom

• Accurate late 2 bolt escape hatch hinge

• glueable rubber track

• screws for road wheels

• Complete decal sheet..


The second release is:

TP-4833 Tiger I tank / early production

This 144 part kit, has as some of its features, the following features

• Accurate early production hull w/ highly detailed surface texture

• Two Bosch head lights

• Correct rear engine deck

• Early drum type cupola

• Side mounted smoke candle dischargers on the turret

• Accurate early style loader’s hatch and early style ventilator

• Has mounts for S-Minen dischargers on the upper hull

• glue able rubber track

• screws for road wheels

• Complete decals


Skybow have around 30 vehicles mooted for release, the next (confirmed) release, will be nothing less than a Sherman Firefly VC....
