Tamiya German Steyr T 1500A/01

by: Çağın Başaran [ CAANBASH ]

The car that made German officers mobile in 1/35 scale!
They where able to carry trailers for lighter anti aircraft and anti tank guns.

The kit of Tamiya re-builds the action with premium material and detail quality, having negative properties at the level lower than negligible.

Opening the box...

The box is the standard Tamiya box, I don't know if I have to say anything more than that. As soon as you open the box, you start feeling the energy of the quality from the sound of the sprues touching each other.

You must have felt it when you opened a good kit, yourself. The kit has two personnel figures, and a PE sheet of grills. I have things to say about the grills...

It is overall a nice feeling opening the box, and when open, you understand why this kit is sold for more money then the Horch 20mm. kit.

By the way, the kit inludes parts to make two alternative models.

Perfect Molding and Surface Detail

The kits produced by Tamiya have always proved to have great quality of molding, detailing and the material used, especially those copyrighted after 1995.

This kit is one of them having a hard plastic material with greal molding and detailing quality. The details of the personnel (the driver and the commander in this kit) are awesome.

The dashboard, wheels, underside have incredible detailing, and the amount of detail is consistent at different parts of the kit.

The parts fit together very well, leaving no gaps, and little need for putty work.

PE grills... Got to be a joke!!!

The PE grills are in the form of tiny squares, which I have never seen on a Steyr alone! All the images of the Steryr I have seen have grills with horizontal elements, leaving horizontal voids in between, which are divided by verticals at intervals.

The grill supplied by the kit can only be used behind the one I described. So the front layer of the grills must be made from scratch... May be stretched sprue, I don't know...

Far More Than Satisfactory
Overall, the kit is a fine piece of art with all the detail, fitting, accessories and so on.

I Wish we had a painting scheme and decals for a Nordmandy model, instead of having two options for Russia.

If you want this kit as single or for a diorama, do not think about anything, and get it.
